+ Why Photography? +

relief!
It has been quite a norm for brides & grooms to come and book us after they have done everything else. From venue to dresses. Door gifts to invitation cards. It seemed as if photography is the least important element of their big day (sigh
). If you’re one of them or plan to be one of them, please, spare a few minutes and share my thoughts here
.. it will be worth it!
Imagine 20 years down the road. You’re trying to kick back and relax with your children. They are in their teenage years and you’re aging gracefully. Sharing some old stories with your children seemed to bring great joy to them. They are eager to learn more. They want to know how their parents met. They want to know how their parent’s wedding looked like. Woops! No photo to show? Or there were some pictures taken from your wedding, but they were not properly taken hence dark and can hardly be enjoyed by the children. But they are eager to see for themselves the beautiful dresses you’re telling them. The one-of-its-kind pelamin you’re telling them. The made-by-their-grandma hantarans or bunga telurs or all those interesting items once popular used on the hantaran trays like iPod or all those tongue-twisting chocolate brands.
A nice afternoon for quality time and family bonding has turned sour. The children are upset.
Do you see the picture? ( pun intended
)
Of course, you can spend on designer dresses, pelamins, hantarans, delicious foods for the guests, expensive doorgifts and many more, but all of these ( except the dresses, if only you tailor made them and keep them after the event, not return it to the boutique ) will only last for a few hours and after that, they are all gone. Only one thing you can spend for your wedding day which will last and accompany you for the rest of your life. ( okay-lah, two things ). photography & videography.
While many other things will disappear as fast as the disappearing guests, pretty photos and adorable videos will never go away. They will be your testament of love. They are your best investment, from all the things you spent for you wedding day. An as an investment, of course, you have to be wise to choose with whom should you invest so that the return will yield the highest return.
So if you think photography or videography just a waste of money, please think again. You wouldn’t want to anger your children when you brag about your dresses or PlayStation as the hantaran in the future with no proof to back the claims, don’t you? LOL
